CV NEWS FEED // Over 100 House lawmakers have joined the Delivering Outstanding Government Efficiency (DOGE) Caucus. The number represents more than one in five members of the House, signaling a rising interest in the Trump administration’s agenda of tackling government inefficiency and cutting waste.
The Congressional DOGE Caucus was launched in November, shortly after President Donald Trump appointed Elon Musk to run the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
The bipartisan caucus is co-chaired by Reps. Aaron Bean, R-FL, Pete Sessions, R-TX, and Blake Moore, R-UT.
According to a November statement, the caucus will support DOGE in “its mission to dismantle the out-of-control Government Bureaucracy, slash excess regulations, cut wasteful expenditures, and restructure federal agencies.”
“Our national debt has surpassed a staggering $36 trillion and should be a wakeup call for all Americans,” said Bean. “We must take action to avoid diving headfirst off the cliff of fiscal ruin.”
Despite the growing support, the initiative has sparked debates among Democratic lawmakers. Some have expressed concerns about Musk’s expanding influence over the federal government.
Democratic Rep. Val Hoyle, D-OR, who initially joined the caucus, announced her departure last week in a statement claiming that Musk is “set on burning down the government–and the law–to line his own pockets and rip off Americans.”
The initiative has still attracted bipartisan participants, including Rep. Jared Moskowitz, D-FL, who was the first Democrat to join the caucus in December.
“The time for staying in safe spaces is over,” Moskowitz said in an interview with CNN. “We should be able to go in spaces and have that conversation.”
“Democrats shouldn’t fear this conversation,” he continued. “I think there are ways to improve the government and I’m looking to do that.”
Enthusiasm for the caucus’ mission remains high in the House.
The caucus has already had two sessions.
According to Fox News, “The group’s members are currently working on legislative items aimed at reducing government spending and forwarding specific items on Trump’s agenda.”
