Our Catholic Spring

8

They are rioting in the streets.

Breaking windows. Burning the flag. Blocking entrances to schools…

In at least one case, a group of thugs brutally beat an innocent man shouting “he voted Trump!”

What these protesters don’t realize is that they are confirming for the vast majority of Americans, including many reluctant Trump supporters, that they made the right decision on Tuesday.  President Obama has set the right tone. These Soros-funded mobs are a disgrace.

But I’ll admit, I am worried.

And no, not about the protesters.

I am worried that we will grow complacent — basking in our victory over the Clinton juggernaut.

Let’s face it: the threat of a Hillary Clinton presidency energized us all. We were united against her campaign’s smears of Catholics as “backwards,” her promise to remake the Supreme Court for a generation, her pledge to fund abortion with taxpayer dollars, and her escalation of the war on the Catholic Church and our charities, schools, and hospitals.

But we defeated Hillary Clinton. That battle is over.

The truth is: the bigger test is coming.

We expect some quick victories once President Trump is sworn into office. We hope and suspect he’ll erase the HHS mandate with a stroke of his presidential pen (maybe President Trump should give that pen to the Little Sisters of the Poor)! There will be other executive orders to rescind, and new ones to issue —  including a ban on foreign aid to organizations which commit abortions.

But then come the real fights.

And it’s going to be a political war unlike anything we have seen.

We are going to have to fend off the Left while also keep pressure on Republicans to do what we elected them to do. And yes, be prepared, and unafraid, to hold President Trump accountable too.

Armed with the filibuster in the Senate, Democrats will fight every step of the way. The battles to replace Obamacare, to secure protections for religious liberty, and to defund Planned Parenthood will be epic.

And just imagine the coming fight over the Supreme Court…

The Left is gearing up for this battle. Everything you see in the streets is designed to motivate their activists to get involved. Their entire agenda, their taxpayer money, and their stranglehold on America is at risk. And they won’t go easy.

So what now?

Remember how hard you prayed before the election?  Don’t stop.

Remember how hard you worked. The calls you made. The energy you invested in helping to mobilize your family and friends? Don’t stop.

We need to stay together. To stay focused. And to keep praying.

The Catholic vote shocked America on Tuesday.

Let’s make sure they ain’t seen nothing yet.

Brian

P.S. It goes without saying that I’m going to need your support too.  We unloaded our bank account to help win this election.  We’re gearing back up now.  If you can help, we need it today.

  1. This article continues the partisan polarization of American politics and American religions. Left vs. Right, Conservative vs. Liberal. Secular vs. Spiritual.

Senator McConnell welcomed the new President in 2008 by saying “his main responsibility was to insure that President Obama was a one term Commander-in-chief”. We can only speculate on the impact of that statement on a first term POTUS. A Senate minion of McConnell’s attended a meeting where an edict came from both McConnell and Cornyn ordering the Senate to reject all legislation from Obama. WOW!

How can we cry for Religious Liberty and at the same time invoke a massive effort to evangelize others by stripping the faith of its’ members? We are in a hypocritical quandary since proselytization and ecumenism are in conflict.

Why are we always right while all others are always wrong? That is the political position taken by the Republican leadership. How Mitch McConnell could FREEZE the SCOTUS judicial nominating process and get away with it is mind boggling. McConnell is the epitome of the party of NO! We may never discover why the highly qualified and moderate Judge Garland was never given a hearing. McConnell said he wanted to give that decision to the “people”. That is a stretch given the harm that the FREEZE inflicted on SCOTUS and lower courts. The people were polled on this and they voted overwhelmingly to let the vetting process continue.

Lets pray that the new President is humbled by this enormous task besetting him and becomes a champion for the poor and the jobless middleclass and not for those at the top. Catholic Spring? Maybe. My wonderful Irish Grandmother new what Spring meant, both on the old sod and in her new home as an immigrant. Unfortunately, it seems because of severe climate change our Springs are harder to define. It has become apparent that we now go from Winter to Summer with Spring only imagined.

  2. Not a word about the hundreds of racial attacks that have taken place since Tuesday.

You are not Catholic if you refuse to condemn hatred and racism, sorry. You’re a fraud.

    • The Catholic Church has been condemning hatred and racism since the resurrection. The supposed “racial attacks” you speak of have been 1) denounced by your president-elect and 2) proven to be “false flag” attacks by paid DNC operatives.

      Peace be with you!

  3. The Catholic community that voted for Trump has sold its soul to the devil. There is no question that conservative fundamentalist Catholics are now the new racist owners of an anti-muslim surge and pledge to purge this nation of any faith other than the Crusader Christians. Be prepared. Your choice to denigrate all who do not think like you will, in time, lead to your demise. You do not have God on your side. You do not.

It’s bad form to be a sore loser.

I am impressed that you operate from a knowledge of whom God does and does not side with. I personally thought that I wouldn’t actually know the mind of God until I was in Heaven with Him.
