CV NEWS FEED // The Eucharistic Revival invites Catholics to an enlightening webinar titled Blessed Carlo Acutis and How to Use Technology Virtuously, set for 8 p.m. Eastern Standard Time Dec. 17. This Year of Mission event will explore the intersection of faith and technology, offering practical insights for living out Catholic values in the digital age.
The seminar will feature two distinguished speakers. Tim Moriarty, producer of an upcoming documentary on Blessed Carlo Acutis, will delve into the inspiring life of the young beatified Italian. Known for his deep devotion to the Eucharist and his innovative use of technology to spread the Gospel, Bl. Carlo serves as a modern role model for virtuous digital engagement. Moriarty will share insights into his cause for canonization and his impact on the Church.
Joining Moriarty is Brett Robinson, Ph.D., of the McGrath Institute, who will provide practical guidance on using technology for the common good. Drawing from both faith and scholarship, Robinson will discuss how Catholics can navigate the challenges of the digital world while remaining rooted in virtue and purpose.
The interactive format includes a live Q&A session, giving participants the chance to engage directly with the speakers. Organizers hope that for attendees who want to learn more about Bl. Carlo’s legacy or seek actionable tips for integrating faith into their online presence, the evening will inspire and equip participants for evangelization in the digital sphere.
Those who wish to join the discussion can register online here.
The seminar coincides with the recent announcement by Pope Francis that Bl. Carlo Acutis will be canonized in April 2025 during the Jubilee for Adolescents.
Born in 1991, Carlo Acutis was a modern role model of faith and virtue. Despite his family’s lukewarm Catholic practice, Carlo developed a deep devotion to Jesus in the Eucharist from a young age. Attending Mass daily and praying the Rosary, he also convinced his parents to deepen their faith. He called the Rosary “the shortest ladder to heaven” and described the Eucharist as “my highway to Heaven.”

Carlo balanced his spiritual life with ordinary hobbies like soccer and video games, practicing temperance by limiting gaming to one hour per week. He taught himself computer programming and created a website cataloging Eucharistic miracles worldwide to inspire greater devotion.
Diagnosed with leukemia at age 15, Carlo offered his sufferings for the Lord, the Pope, and the Church, saying, “I am happy to die because I have lived my life without wasting a minute on those things which do not please God.”
He died in 2006 and was buried in Assisi, as he had requested.
Bl. Carlo’s first miracle, recognized in 2020, involved the healing of a young Brazilian boy with a severe pancreatic condition. His second miracle, approved in 2024, involved a Costa Rican woman recovering from a traumatic brain injury after prayers at Carlo’s tomb. With his canonization set for April 2025, Carlo Acutis will become the first millennial saint, embodying a life of faith, modernity, and profound love for God.
