CV NEWS FEED // The Diocese of Oakland, California, is expecting over 1,000 attendees at its 16th annual World Day of the Sick Mass on February 10, 2024.
The Mass will be celebrated at the Cathedral of Christ the Light at 11:00 a.m. in dedication for the sick and suffering.
According to a PR Newswire press release, the Mass will be celebrated by Fr. Brandon Macadaeg, Rector and priest of the diocese.
“World Day of the Sick events in Oakland feature award-winning composer Frank LaRocca’s Messe des Malades honoring Our Lady of Lourdes, with the Cathedral Choir conducted by the dynamic Richard Sparks,” the press release stated:
The Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick is offered to those seeking God’s grace and mercy, along with a blessing of caregivers and health care providers, distribution of Holy water from Lourdes, France, and a reception.
Bishop Michael C. Barber described last year’s celebration as “an unforgettable day in the Liturgical Life of the Diocese of Oakland,” and added that he is “honored and excited to be a part of another momentous opportunity to experience the healing power of God.”
The event will be sponsored by the Malta Clinic of Northern California.
