At a special event in New York City June 18, Cardinal Timothy Dolan will share about what it was like to be a part of the conclave to elect Pope Leo XIV.
The Manhattan-based venue, the Sheen Center for Thought and Culture, announced the event, “Inside the Conclave: A Conversation with Cardinal Dolan on the Election and Pontificate of Pope Leo XIV,” on its website.
The discussion will run for an hour and will feature Cardinal Dolan, FOX News anchor Martha McCallum, and the Archdiocese of New York Auxiliary Bishop Edum Whalen.
A post-show reception follows. Registration starts at a $50 minimum donation.
Cardinal Dolan, the archbishop of New York, was one of the 10 US cardinals who participated in the conclave, which involves prayer, voting, and secrecy to protect the conclave election process. Though the conclave was brief, only lasting May 7-8 in the Sistine Chapel, cardinals attended multiple intensive meetings called General Congregations beforehand.
During the General Congregations, which could be attended both by voting and non-voting cardinals, some of the prelates gave speeches on pressing Church matters and discussed what characteristics and background they considered important for the next pope.
