Novena to Defend Our Churches and Pregnancy Centers

Daily Prayers

Below you will find the prayers for all nine days of the novena. Each day carries a unique special intention, so be sure to follow along! You can print them all at once or check your email for daily reminders and links.

Day 1

For all Catholic priests in America, especially those whose parishes have been attacked.

Opening Prayer

Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil; May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; And do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan and all evil spirits who wander through the world for the ruin of souls. Amen.

Sancte Michael Archangele, defende nos in proelio, contra nequitiam et insidias diaboli esto praesidium. Imperet illi Deus, supplices deprecamur: tuque, Princeps militiae caelestis, in virtute Dei, in infernum detrude satanam aliosque spiritus malignos, qui ad perditionem animarum pervagantur in mundo. Amen.

Prayer of the Day

Lord Jesus Christ, high priest and refuge of all ordained men, bless your Catholic priests in America, especially pastors whose parishes have been vandalized. In the face of hatred and persecution, strengthen in them a greater love of the Church, a more valiant courage to defend the weakest among us, and a more spiritual yearning for eternal life.

Give them a living faith in your words: “Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” (Matthew 5:11)

Give them your peace, we pray, that they in turn might radiate that peace to their parish and to the world.

Day 2

For pregnancy center directors and volunteers, especially those whose centers/parishes have been attacked

Opening Prayer

Prayer of the Day

Lord Jesus Christ, you have said, “Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.” (Matthew 25:40) Bless the men and women who have served the unborn and their families so faithfully – especially those who have suffered threats, vile slander, and violence. Protect their places of work and service so that they may continue to bring your love and material support to those who most need them.

Give them your peace, we pray, and may they increase in grace and number.

Day 3

For the fathers, mothers, and children who are helped by pregnancy centers

Opening Prayer

Prayer of the Day

Lord Jesus Christ, we give you thanks and praise for the fathers, mothers, and children who have been so well-served by pregnancy resource centers. Thank you for the privilege of bringing your love into their lives in ways great and small. Protect them from all harm and raise up in them the confidence that you love them more than we ever could.

Give them a living faith in your words: “So the last will be first, and the first last.” (Matthew 20:16)

Give them what we alone cannot give: the peace of Christ, that passes all understanding.

Day 4

For all mothers still seeking assistance during an unexpected or crisis pregnancy.

Opening Prayer

Prayer of the Day

Lord Jesus Christ, bless all women facing an unexpected or crisis pregnancy. Fill them with the strength of Ruth, Judith, and the Blessed Mother that they might joyfully choose life for their child and themselves. Remove all obstacles in their way and send them the spiritual and material help they need.

Give them a living faith in your words: “And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:20)

Raise up these women to noble motherhood and grant that they rejoice forever in eternity with their child.

Day 5

For all those suffering after an abortion, especially those suffering from rage and depression

Opening Prayer

Prayer of the Day

Lord Jesus Christ, no sin is so great and no darkness so deep that your mercy cannot overcome it. Bless all fathers and mothers suffering after an abortion, especially those who feel rage or depression. Turn their anger to true contrition that they might feel the healing light of your mercy.

Give them a living faith in your words: “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” (John 1:5)

Give them a new beginning and transform them into great missionaries for life.

Day 6

For the perpetrators and their conversion to the Catholic faith

Opening Prayer

Prayer of the Day

Lord Jesus Christ, you have taught us that sin disfigures no one more than the sinner himself. We pray earnestly for the conversion of all those who have targeted churches and pregnancy resource centers with acts of sacrilege and vandalism, especially members of Jane’s Revenge. Please turn their hearts to your most Sacred Heart, which bleeds for them.

Confirm in their hearts abiding confidence in your words, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.” (Mark 1:15)

Grant them your forgiveness and may we enjoy your heavenly feast together forever in eternity.

Day 7

For our representatives in Congress, for President Biden, and Att Gen Merrick Garland

Opening Prayer

Prayer of the Day

Lord Jesus Christ, you stood before Pontius Pilate and accepted his authority over even your person. Our Father in heaven has given authority and responsibility to our elected leaders in Congress and the White House, and we ask your grace on these men and women. May they use their earthly power to protect the lives entrusted to them.

Confirm in their hearts abiding confidence in your words, “‘Truly, I say to you, as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.’ (Matthew 25:45)

Inspire and strengthen them to protect our churches, families, children, and freedoms.

Day 8

For our judges on state and federal court benches

Opening Prayer

Prayer of the Day

Lord Jesus Christ, you are the Judge who is to come, the Son of Justice, and the seat of wisdom. Enlighten judges who sit on our state and federal court benches. Inspire them to decide with fairness and preserve our Constitution so that we may continue to enjoy the rights of liberty for generations to come.

Confirm in their hearts abiding confidence in your words, “For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you.” (Matthew 7:2)

Grant the gifts of wisdom, understanding, and counsel that they may defend the right of all human persons – born and unborn – to enjoy the blessings of liberty.

Day 9

For religious leaders to remain courageous in the defense of women and children who are preyed upon by the abortion industry.

Lord Jesus Christ, you have raised up Catholic men and women in every age to lead your Church and evangelize their native land. Make our bishops and Catholic leaders into great saints in this battle to defend human life. In the face of threats and persecution, increase their courage and desire for self-sacrifice in this great cause.

Confirm in their hearts abiding confidence in your words, “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.” (Matthew 5:6)

Enflame their hearts with love for you and your littlest ones, that they may speak and act in courageous defense of women and the unborn against the attacks of the evil one through the abortion industry.

Prayer of the Day

Lord Jesus Christ, we praise and adore your holy name. Thank you for hearing our prayers and petitions. We rejoice in your mercy and abandon ourselves entirely to the designs of your holy will, knowing that you will never abandon us. Amen.

Concluding Prayer

O glorious prince St. Michael, chief and commander of the heavenly hosts, guardian of souls, vanquisher of rebel spirits, servant in the house of the Divine King and our admirable conductor, you who shine with excellence and superhuman virtue deliver us from all evil, who turn to you with confidence and enable us by your gracious protection to serve God more and more faithfully every day.

Pray for us, O glorious St. Michael, Prince of the Church of Jesus Christ, that we may be made worthy of His promises.

Almighty and Everlasting God, Who, by a prodigy of goodness and a merciful desire for the salvation of all men, has appointed the most glorious Archangel St. Michael Prince of Your Church, make us worthy, we ask You, to be delivered from all our enemies, that none of them may harass us at the hour of death, but that we may be conducted by him into Your Presence. This we ask through the merits of Jesus Christ Our Lord.
