CV NEWS FEED // In a recent viral Twitter video, University of Notre Dame quarterback Riley Leonard proudly shared one of the standout features of the Fighting Irish football team: their high attendance at Bible study sessions.
Leonard noted that approximately 40 players join the study every week, a significant increase from its humble beginnings with just five participants.
“One of the biggest bragging points about this team is that we have like 40 guys show up to our Bible study every Thursday,” Leonard said. “And that’s really a credit to them.”
He shared that the growth of the group reflects the strong sense of community within the team. “This team is just so close, and everything we do we do as a unit,” he said.
Leonard, whose Instagram biography states “No Jesus – No Peace, Know Jesus – Know Peace,” recently led the team to a dominating 23-10 playoff victory over the University of Georgia in the Sugar Bowl.
During a postgame interview on ESPN, he expressed gratitude to Jesus for his success, saying, “First and foremost, I want to thank my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Without Him, I wouldn’t be here, and we wouldn’t be here as a whole group.”
