CV NEWS FEED // Boulder Abortion Clinic, one of the last facilities in the country aborting third-trimester babies, closed its doors last week.
LiveAction reported that the Colorado facility’s abortionist Warren Hern retired in January 2025, stating that the facility would continue performing abortions. Now, however, he has announced its closure. In his announcement, Hern stated, “I must now leave this sacred commitment to others.”
Hern performed abortions through the third trimester, when the baby is fully viable outside the womb. LiveAction estimates that he killed 42,000 preborn children.
Hern admitted, in an article published by The Atlantic, that earlier in his career, he suffered psychological distress and nightmares about the children he had aborted.
“He would often retreat to his office to compose himself after an abortion,” LiveAction reported, quoting the article in The Atlantic. “Partly, it was the high-stakes nature of the procedure. But he also needed time to process how the dead fetus looked, how removing it felt. Sometimes he’d sit in his office and think, What am I doing?”
Hern also wrote in a medical journal report that his employees suffered “serious emotional reactions that produced physiological symptoms, sleep disturbances, effects on interpersonal relationships and moral anguish.”
The Post Millennial reported that in a 2024 article published by The New Yorker, Hern doubled down on the abortions he performed, stating, “The woman doesn’t want her baby to suffer. She wants to end the pregnancy before that happens. Abortion is a clear therapeutic treatment of the condition of pregnancy where the woman is not going to have a healthy baby.”
He had repeatedly described pregnancy as a disease or a “medical problem,” according to both Post Millennial and LiveAction.
According to LiveAction, Hern also admitted that he performed elective late-term abortions “all the time.”
