CV NEWS FEED // The Newman Guide is partnering with the Catholic homeschool program Kolbe Academy to hold a virtual college fair for high school students on October 9.
When registering for the event, students have the option to fill out a questionnaire for a “college matchmaking” service that points students to the colleges that align with their interests. Each of the colleges on the Newman Guide will have a virtual “booth” where high school students can interact with representatives from the college.
Students, family members, and educators are all welcome to attend this free event, which will take place from 1-3pm and 7-9pm, ET.
The webpage highlighted several values of attending a Catholic college.
Many colleges have reputations for offering a good education, the registration webpage noted. However, “If large numbers of students lose their faith in college—or they fail to become wise and virtuous—then are they really getting a ‘good’ education?”
“A faithful Catholic college can prepare you to be a leader in your family, workplace and community,” the page continued. “Meanwhile, it helps prepare you for eternity in Heaven!”
The fair will feature several live and on-demand presentations: “How to Plan for your Career and Vocation” by Christendom College’s Tom McFadden; “My Experience at a Newman Guide College” by Jason Evert; and “A Parents’ Perspective: Sending Our Children to Newman Guide Colleges” by the Newman Guide’s Patrick and Rosario Reilly.
Kolbe Academy’s Jordan Almanzar will present “From Home to Campus: How Newman Guide Colleges Foster Faith and Learning.” Kolbe Academy’s website states that they offer self-paced, traditional homeschool, and online options for students.
The Newman Guide is a nonprofit Catholic organization that serves families and students by promoting faithful Catholic education. Their website states that they fulfill this mission by
advocating and supporting fidelity to the teaching of the Catholic Church across all levels and methods of Catholic education; identifying and promoting clear standards of Catholic identity and best practices in Catholic education; and recognizing exemplary Catholic educators and institutions committed to truth and the integral formation of their students.
