CV NEWS FEED // A historic New York state pregnancy center is speaking out against Attorney General Letitia James’ “war path” against pro-life pregnancy centers in the state.
In an April 25 news release, CompassCare, which was the first crisis pregnancy center to medicalize in New York, detailed the current landscape for the pro-life movement in the wake of James’ April 22 notice of litigation against 10 Christian pro-life pregnancy centers.
The New York AG claims the centers have been providing “misleading statements or omissions in the advertising of the Abortion Pill Reversal (APR) protocol.”
Pro-life public interest law firm Thomas More Society is representing the pregnancy centers pro bono, according to the release, which also noted that the centers were given just five days to respond to James’ notice of litigation.
“This is only the most recent move by pro-abortion political extremists in a two-year (period),” CompassCare remarked, describing the AG’s latest move to prosecute as another example of the “multi-layered, blue-state, pattern of attack against pro-life pregnancy centers, similar to Marxist-style allegations of misinformation leveled by Jane’s Revenge terrorist group against pro-lifers.”
CompassCare alleges the state began attacking pro-life centers more recently in June 202, when New York Governor Kathy Hochul “weaponized legislation” by signing a bill to investigate the victims of a firebombing of its Buffalo medical office by Jane’s Revenge.
Hochul likewise cited “misinformation” as a motive for targeting the pro-life center and referred to pro-life Americans as “Neanderthals” in a speech after signing the abortion legislation.
“The women of New York will never be subjugated to government mandated pregnancies because that’s what will ensue if Roe v. Wade is overturned by the Supreme Court,” she declared, adding:
This is the United States of America, where freedom and liberty are supposed to mean something. It’s the rock upon which we were founded. It is supposed to mean something.
Except in the eyes of some Neanderthals who say, women are not entitled to those rights.
CompassCare also called out James for “conspir(ing)” with Google to “censure prolife pregnancy centers, keeping women from finding them on map features,” and for having “applauded” the tech company’s illegal compliance in August 2022.
In response to James’ allegations, CompassCare CEO Rev. Jim Harde stated in the release: “You know, being sued by New York State for ‘misinformation’ oddly gives us the platform to educate the nation concerning the stubborn facts abortion industry puppets, like AG James, seek to hide.”
He concluded:
If it takes being sued by Letitia James to save women and babies from being used and victimized by a mercenary abortion industry, come and get us!”
