CV NEWS FEED // Bishop James Conley of Lincoln, Nebraska, just joined the Board of Directors at Wyoming Catholic College, a small college that prioritizes being in nature, unplugging, and studying the Liberal Arts.
“From the very beginning of the College’s existence, I have been convinced that God has called Wyoming Catholic to play a profound role in our society and in our Church,” Bishop Conley stated in the college’s December 5 press release. “I am grateful for the opportunity to join her board, and to lend myself even more passionately to the growth and success of such a vital institution.”
Conley has been closely involved in the college from its founding according to the statement.
“There are few people who better understand and love Wyoming Catholic College,” Wyoming College’s president, Kyle Washut, said. “I look forward to drawing upon his wealth of experience…”
Board chairman Bill Sniffin called the addition “just tremendous.” He added:
As another supporter who has watched this wonderful college—“Our Lady’s College,” as we like to call her—grow from the most unassuming of seeds, I know how important it is to truly love what we’re trying to accomplish here in Lander, and to have a clear vision of just how great an impact this place will have,
“It’s a great blessing for us to be joined on the board by such a friend of the College, and one who has been here from the very beginning,” Sniffin concluded.
Conley visited the college often and was commencement speaker in 2014. He was ordained in 1985 and has served the Church as a pastor, college chaplain, theology instructor, and director of Respect Life ministries. Conley was a convert to Catholicism in 1975, partially under the guidance of his mentor and teacher, Professor John Senior who became his godfather. Conley has been a bishop of Lincoln since Pope Benedict XVI appointed him in 2012.
