CV NEWS FEED // The National Eucharistic Congress will be “a witness of unity” for the Church in the United States as Catholics from all walks of life will come together to worship Jesus in the Eucharist, the Congress recently highlighted.
“We’ve seen an unprecedented collaboration of over 200 apostolates who were inspired by the vision for the Congress and are instrumental in making it happen,” a recent email from the Congress reads.
Over 80,000 Catholics are estimated to attend the National Eucharistic Congress, which is set for July 17-21 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
According to the Congress’s email, the attendees include:
– Lay Catholics of all ages, backgrounds, and missions will be in one place to worship and adore Our Lord together.
– 200 bishops
– Over 1,000 priests and deacons (and counting!) are planning to participate in the Congress.
– Many religious orders plan to send representatives.
– Over 100 of the most trusted voices in the Church have agreed to bless us with their talents and wisdom.
“With only a few months remaining before this historic gathering, the tens of thousands of Catholics registered for the Congress tell an inspiring story about the Church in the U.S. coming together in a radical way,” the email notes.
Leading up to the Congress is the National Eucharistic Pilgrimage, which starts in May. Eucharistic processions through participating dioceses will travel through four different routes that begin in the northern, eastern, southern, and western corners of the United States. The Pilgrimage will conclude when the routes come together at the Congress in Indianapolis.
Both the Congress and Pilgrimage are part of the National Eucharistic Revival, a multi-year initiative for the Church in the United States that is centered around increasing devotion to the Eucharist.
“Not only will the 10th National Eucharistic Congress reflect the unity of the Church in her people, but this event will also be a witness to the unity of mission and the impact of the National Eucharistic Revival in America,” the email concluded.
