CV NEWS FEED // Following the powerful witness of the National Eucharistic Congress this past July, the NAPA Institute has announced it will soon lead another Eucharistic procession in New York City.
Set to take place on Oct. 15, “Walk With Christ Through Manhattan” is an opportunity to take part in a powerful public witness to the Eucharist and the Catholic faith.
The event will begin with a Holy Hour and Rosary with Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of New York Joseph Espaillat. Mass at St Patrick’s Cathedral will follow. It will be concelebrated by Archbishop Paul S Coakley and Msgr James Shea. After the Mass, the procession will take place and proceed through Midtown Manhattan.
The NAPA Institute led a similar Eucharistic procession last year that was attended by roughly 4,000 faithful.
It’s “a different dynamic,” Catholic photojournalist Jeffrey Bruno told CatholicVote last year following the 2023 procession:
When you walk down the street [on] a normal day, especially on a city street, you see people. You might imagine [something about them] based on how they appear. But when the Blessed Sacrament goes down [the street], all of the sudden, certain people light up, and it’s incredible.
Then, when you walk down the street when you’re not in procession, you realize that those people are still there. You’re among fellow Catholics, fellow believers: wherever they are, they walk in faith.
Once this year’s procession returns to St Patrick’s Cathedral, participants will also have the opportunity to venerate a relic of Blessed Carlo Acutis, which was brought all the way from Assisi, Italy.
The NAPA Institute is inviting all Catholics to participate in this event. Any priests interested in concelebrating the Mass can contact the Institute at events@napa-institute.org.
