CV NEWS FEED // Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey announced on February 29 that he has filed a lawsuit against Planned Parenthood in response to the abortion provider’s ongoing trafficking of minors across state lines without parental consent to procure abortions.
“This is the beginning of the end for Planned Parenthood in the State of Missouri,” Bailey stated in a press release. “What they conceal and conspire to do in the dark of night has now been uncovered. I am filing suit to ensure it never happens again.”
Bailey said that the lawsuit is the result of several years of investigation and campaigning “to drive Planned Parenthood” out of Missouri due to its “flagrant and intentional refusal to comply with state law.” Bailey pointed to at least four different violations of state law, saying that “It is time to eradicate Planned Parenthood once and for all to end this pattern of abhorrent, unethical, and illegal behavior.”
Bailey cited examples from 2018, when an inspection found mold, rust, and bodily fluids on abortion equipment used by a Planned Parenthood clinic in Columbia. The discovery was the latest event in a series of health-code violations committed by the clinic, and it was later shut down.
The same year, Planned Parenthood abortionists admitted in court that for at least 15 years, they had not filed reports when women experienced medical complications from abortions.
Bailey also pointed to another violation in 2020, when it was discovered that though state law required the same physician who performed an abortion to warn the mother of its risks, the abortionists were not complying.
It is illegal in Missouri to help minors obtain abortions without parental consent, whether that be by transporting the minor to a clinic or taking them outside the state to have an abortion. Bailey said that in a recent investigative video, Planned Parenthood admitted to trafficking minors across state lines into Kansas, where there are fewer abortion restrictions.
“The investigation revealed that Planned Parenthood removes minors from school using altered doctors’ notes, transports them into Kansas for abortions, and then quickly returns them—all to avoid the legal requirement to obtain parental consent,” Bailey said.
The investigation was conducted by Project Veritas, which sent an undercover reporter to an abortion clinic to inquire about abortions for a 13-year-old without parental consent. According to Life News, the director assured the reporter that the minor could easily be transported to Kansas, adding that Planned Parenthood trafficks minors every day.
In a video announcing his lawsuit, Bailey added that procuring abortions for minors without parental consent means that Planned Parenthood is also concealing sexual abuse.
“Planned Parenthood by state statute is a mandatory reporter for any sexual offenses against children. And yet in the video, an agent of Planned Parenthood is committed to concealing the fact that a 13-year-old who cannot legally consent to sexual conduct has experienced sexual abuse,” Bailey said in the video. “This should disgust anyone concerned about the health and safety of women and children in the state of Missouri.”
