CV NEWS FEED // Minnesota Democratic House Candidate Judd Hoff and his wife Wendy were arrested on felony charges for stealing campaign signs and repainting them for Hoff’s own campaign.
Wendy was observed by multiple witnesses stealing campaign signs off the lawns of other Minnesota businesses and residences. One gun store owner even snapped a photo, which Wendy reportedly posed for before driving off with the stolen signs.
Neighbors reported stacks of the stolen signs in the Hoff’s yard. Many of the signs were then painted over black and adorned with the message: “Vote Hoff, State Representative 12B.”
It is clear the Hoffs were hoping to aid the Democrat’s campaign.
This is not Judd Hoff’s first run-in with the law. He was previously disavowed by the Minnesota Democratic Farmer Labor (DFL) Party because of his criminal record, which includes 2nd degree assault.
Hoff once brandished a 23-inch machete at a concerned citizen who stopped him because he was driving a car that displayed the American flag upside down. He was convicted for using the machete once more a month later, but the charges were dropped after Hoff was assigned 13 months in jail for the first offense.
A preliminary investigation shows the damages in stolen signs to be near $5,000, marking this case of the stolen signs a felony offense.
Hoff was arrested on Saturday for receiving stolen property and aiding and abetting felony theft. Wendy was arrested on felony theft. However, with no other Democrats on the ticket in Minnesota, Hoff will win the primary by default.
Judd Hoff claims that what his wife did was perfectly legal and that he will be suing for a civil rights violation.
