CV NEWS FEED // Archbishop for the Military Services (AMS) Timothy Broglio and other AMS leaders recently spoke at Washington, D.C., during SEEK25, a Catholic conference for college students. The event drew more than 160 Catholic cadets from across the country.
According to an AMS press release, SEEK25, run by the Fellowship of Catholic University Students (FOCUS), was held simultaneously in Washington, D.C., and Salt Lake City, Utah, from Jan. 1-5. 2025 marked the first year the conference was held at two sites. The Utah location drew 17,000 students, and another 3,000 attended in Washington.
Archbishop Broglio welcomed midshipmen from the U.S. Naval Academy and cadets from West Point, the Coast Guard Academy, Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) programs.
“It is always energizing to spend time with young men and women on fire with their faith,” the Archbishop said. “The presentations are excellent, but even more exciting is the eagerness and faith-filled response of the attendees. I was also pleased to see so many from the military academies and ROTC present at the event.”
Retired U.S. Army chaplain and West Point alumnus Father Matthew P. Pawlikowski, CH (COL), USA (Ret.), who now serves at West Point, addressed the students in Washington, D.C. He spoke about how to live out the faith while living up to the demands of military life.
In Salt Lake City, Father Marcel Taillon, former AMS vocations director, spoke to 130 participants, including U.S. Air Force Academy cadets and students enrolled in ROTC, regarding AMS’ mission, “Serving those who serve.” Several other chaplains spoke on the vocation of military chaplains. The AMS also sponsored a booth at the Salt Lake City location, raising awareness of this unique vocation.
At both SEEK conference locations, participants learned about Team Saint Paul, where lay civilians support Catholics serving in the military.
