CV NEWS FEED // Biological men who “identify” as women took first, second, and third place last week at an elite women’s cycling event in Washington.
The Daily Mail reported on July 23 that the “transgender” athletes were on two-person teams competing in the elite women’s Madison at the Marymore Grand Prix on July 19 at Jerry Baker Memorial Velodrome in Redmond, Washington.
According to the Daily Mail, Jordan Lothrop took first place in the event. He previously competed against male athletes in the Canada-based Victoria Cycling League, where he was ranked at 22nd overall in the league in 2023.
Jenna Lingwood took second place, who, the Daily Mail reported, “raced as a man until 2017 and is now a member of the Oregon-based women’s cyclocross squad Team S&M.”
Eva Lin took third place. The Daily Mail reported that Lin previously raced on the San Jose State University men’s team as Henry Lin, but his “placings have soared since [he] switched to its women’s team in 2022.”
According to the Daily Mail, USA Cycling’s most recent rules for “transgender” men competing as women in high-level events “must also prove that their testosterone levels have been below 2.5 nanomoles per liter for at least 24 months.” Amateur-level competitors do not need to provide information about testosterone levels. They only have to submit a “self-identity verification request,” which will be reviewed.
The Daily Mail also reported that the pro-trans racing venue stated: “We pride ourselves on being an inclusive track and are following the USACycling rules when it comes to transgender participation.” The venue also allows cyclists in various categories of races to “self-select the field that best fits with their gender identity”.
