CV NEWS FEED // The archbishop of Los Angeles is offering a memorial Mass in thanksgiving for Pope Francis’ life and ministry April 25 at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels.
According to an April 22 press release from the Los Angeles archdiocese, Archbishop José Gomez will preside over the 12:10 p.m. Mass. Auxiliary bishops, clergy from the archdiocese, and the faithful are set to attend and pray for the repose of the Holy Father’s soul.
The archdiocese developed a new webpage dedicated to Pope Francis, which offers various prayer resources and writings on the Holy Father, including statements from Archbishop Gomez.
“In this beautiful Easter season, when we celebrate our hope in the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, we pray that the angels may lead Pope Francis into paradise,” Archbishop Gomez states on the webpage, “that the saints and martyrs welcome him, and that God in his mercy will make his face shine upon his faithful servant and grant him eternal rest in the love that never ends.”
The webpage, the press release noted, will be continually updated with information on Masses in the archdiocese and any upcoming events during the Novendiales, a nine-day period of mourning following a Pope’s passing.
The press release also stated the April 25 Mass will be livestreamed on Facebook on both the archdiocese and the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels’ channel.
