ILLINOIS’ ABORTION PUSH   Planned Parenthood is pushing lawmakers in Illinois to pass sweeping abortion legislation that would compel private insurers to pay for abortions, repeal the partial-birth abortion ban, and allow minor girls to obtain an abortion without parental consent.  READ 
 
 
 
VERMONT AND ABORTION  Liberal Vermont is the latest state where lawmakers are pushing legislation to codify Roe v. Wade into state law.  READ 
 
 
 
SENATE RULES CHANGE  The Senate Rules Committee voted on party lines for a proposal to reduce the length of debate over most judicial and executive branch nominations. Senate Republicans are now looking to see if several Democrats will help them get to 60 votes to back a compromise proposal to speed up nominations.
