TRADE WAR BREWING? President Trump ordered his administration to consider $100 billion in additional tariffs against Chinese imports. On Wednesday, China said it would levy a 25% tariff on $50 billion in U.S. imports including soybeans, automobiles, chemicals and aircraft. China’s action came in response to the Trump administration’s announcement of 1,333 tariffs on Chinese goods on Tuesday. READ |
HIRED, THEN FIRED The liberal magazine The Atlantic fired conservative writer Kevin Williamson, just two weeks after they announced his hire. The rationale for his firing was an online mob of liberals calling on the magazine to fire Williamson for a comment he made years ago in which he suggested the death penalty was justified for women who abort their children. Defenders of Williamson said the comment was intentionally provocative and not intended as a serious defense of his actual position. (Williamson isn’t even sure the death penalty is a good idea.)
