BIDEN WINS BIG With a decisive win in Michigan, Joe Biden is now the presumptive Democratic nominee. Biden also captured Missouri and Mississippi. Biden’s big victory in Michigan means he wins the majority of the state’s 125 delegates. Sanders was looking for a comeback win in Michigan, a state he won in the 2016 Democratic presidential primary. READ
TRUMP & CATHOLICS President Trump will launch a “Catholics for Trump” coalition in Wisconsin on March 19. The Trump campaign said the intention of the event is to “bring together Catholics from across the nation who support President Trump’s re-election.” READ
PAYROLL TAX CUT President Trump reportedly pitched a 0% payroll tax rate for the rest of the year, a White House official said. Congressional Republicans and the White House are working on a stimulus plan to counter the economic impact of the coronavirus outbreak. Trump indicated that federal assistance for the shale industry was also on the table to counteract the impact of a price war over oil between Russia and Saudi Arabia. READ
END EXPLOITATION Sen. Ben Sasse, R-NE, sent a letter to Attorney General William Barr asking him to investigate the nation’s largest “adult” website for streaming videos of women and girls being exploited, harmed, or even raped. Sasse noted in his letter that PayPal stopped processing payments for this website in November. READ
CELEBRATING ABORTION The twin cities of Minneapolis and Saint Paul each celebrated “Abortion Providers Appreciation Day.” Archbishop Bernard Hebda said he was “profoundly saddened” by the decision of Minnesota’s two largest cities. “Given that each human life is created in the image and likeness of God and has value, to honor those who purposefully end such life is an affront not only to our Creator but to the foundational values of civil society. There is no way around it – abortion kills children,” said Hebda. READ
CARDINAL PELL Australia’s High Court will hear arguments in the final appeal of Cardinal George Pell, who was convicted in 2018 on five charges of child sexual abuse. Cardinal Pell’s attorneys are expected to argue that his conviction should have been overturned because it was based upon the uncorroborated testimony of only one complainant. READ

SAINT OF THE DAY A convert from Calvinism, Saint John Ogilvie joined the Jesuits and was ordained to the priesthood. Doing secret ministry in Scotland, Saint John was arrested and tortured for a number of days before being martyred on March 10, 1615. He became the first post-Reformation Scottish saint. READ
