CV NEWS FEED // Catholic Charities Diocese of Venice, Florida, has announced the opening of disaster relief distribution points in Manatee, Sarasota, and Lee Counties to assist families and individuals recovering from recent natural disasters.
Catholic Charities Diocese of Venice Inc., founded in 1984, is a nonprofit that supports communities across 10 counties in Florida. It provides services such as affordable housing, health care, food pantries, counseling, legal aid, education, and disaster relief.
This recent initiative is part of Catholic Charities’ broader efforts to support survivors of Hurricanes Helene and Milton. In collaboration with local Catholic churches and schools serving as disaster relief hubs, Catholic Charities has provided critical supplies to victims since early October. Additionally, through online donation portals, they raised over $1.9 million for Hurricane Helene relief in just two weeks.
According to an October 14 report from local news source Cape Coral Breeze, Venice diocese relief efforts will begin in Manatee County on October 16 at Holy Cross Catholic Church and be open every Wednesday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sarasota County’s site at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Catholic Church will start on October 18 and be open every Monday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Lee County’s centers will launch on October 15 and will operate Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Elizabeth K. Galeana Building and St. Leo the Great Catholic Church.
As more supplies become available, additional distribution points will be established, according to the report.
Donations are being accepted to support ongoing relief efforts, and Catholic Charities is encouraging contributions to help disaster survivors rebuild their lives. Those willing to donate can do so here.
