CV NEWS FEED // “Pride” month is finally over, but liberal agendas pushed on schools by organizations like GLSEN (the Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Education Network) impact teachers and students all year long.
Deb Fillman, a K-12 education consultant and public speaker who advocates for keeping the government out of schools, recently exposed numerous resources provided for teachers by GLSEN, including “Creating Safer Spaces for LGBTQ Youth: a Toolkit for Education, Healthcare, and Community-Based Organizations,” as well as “Queer & Now Pride Month Toolkit.”
“Wondering what teachers are given to ‘help’ them ‘teach’ during Pride month?” Fillman tweeted on July 10, along with screenshots of the resources. “May I suggest you immediately start following the accounts they list as ‘resources’ so you won’t be blindsided by the BS your child’s teachers/schools/peers and even your CHILD will be soon spouting (if they aren’t already).”
Published by Advocates for Youth, the “Creating Safer Spaces” 73-page resource exposed by Fillman begins by detailing “inclusive” vocabulary as well as instructions, checklists, and examples for creating “safe spaces.” Schools are increasingly becoming the targets of internal policies and federal regulations that require teachers to call a child by his or her “preferred pronouns” or preferred name, with or without parental consent. LGBTQ+ activists reason that children may not be supported in their sexual identities by their families, and claim that children feel safer and more comfortable at school to “explore themselves.”
Queer & Now Pride Month Toolkit
Fillman also tweeted about the “Queer & Now Pride Month Toolkit,” from which teachers can learn that “only” 2% of high schoolers identify as “trans”. The toolkit also advocates for providing “affirming” sex education, as well as teaching children about abortion and HIV testing.
In addition to in-class teaching suggestions, the resource also provides teachers with recommendations for inappropriate LGBTQ publications, and videos to suggest to their students.
But the resource doesn’t just stop at indoctrinating children at a particular school. Through the toolkit, the Advocates for Youth organization also provides numerous examples of social media posts that it wants teachers to be posting on their personal accounts. Examples include “KEEP COPS OUT OF PRIDE!” and “Your to-do list to support trans students of color in your community.”
“‘Toolkits’ like these are the bread and butter of communist agitators and always have been, they just have technology and social media now to spread their poison farther and faster,” Fillman tweeted.
Fillman did not respond to a request for further comment.
Teachers Push Back
Some educators are resisting LGBTQ+ indoctrination. A teacher in Minnesota recently called out the Osseo school district, pointing out that teaching about romantic relationships and sexual identity to preschoolers and kindergarteners is unnecessary and perverted. The teacher, who remained unnamed, also rejected the common policy of forcing teachers to call children by their preferred pronouns, arguing that teaching is already a complex and difficult job that does not need the added burden of “preferred sexual identity.”
In Florida, an English teacher named Vicki Baggett pushed back against the school board, calling out almost 150 sexually explicit and inappropriate books found in her school district for minors to read. In addition to the usual gay and overly sexual materials, Baggett also discovered books openly mocking religions, specifically, books making fun of Catholic nuns and priests by sexualizing them.
National and State Governments Train Teachers
Last year, the US Department of Education held an online training session on inclusivity in the classroom; the presenter, who identifies as “trans” and also teaches biology, argued that biology needs to use more inclusive language, such as “person who produces eggs” or “those with ovaries.” The presenter also runs a website, called “Gender Inclusive Biology,” which provides lesson materials, infographics, language guides, and more, in the name of “adapting existing biology teaching to grow a gender-inclusive curriculum.”
A similar situation occurred last year when the Michigan Department of Education hosted a virtual training session, showing teachers how to groom children in the LGBTQ+ agenda. According to Actively Unwoke, a small news agency dedicated to exposing “wokeness” in America, the training suggested reading “I Am Jazz” and other LGBTQ+ books to children, adding inclusive and gender-neutral language (like “beautiful people,” “earthlings,” or “comrades”) to lessons, or even drawing the pride flag in math class to practice geometry.
At the conclusion of the training, attendees were asked to share new strategies that they planned to use in their classrooms as a result of their new information. Responses included everything from “using gender neutral language” to “not ignoring Shakespeare’s relationships with men when discussing his life.”
What Can We Do?
“Like it or not, the teacher pipeline is CAPTURED,” Fillman said. “You cannot ‘school choice’ your way out of this. There aren’t enough private Christian (that aren’t captured also), Jewish, classical schools in America to take you all. You have to build them, in your living room if need be, and yes, many of you have to launch a counter-Revolution and BECOME teachers yourselves.”
You don’t fix this by asking gov’t [sic] for help,” she concluded. “It won’t matter what letter the people in the state house or White House have after their name. All that matters is whether YOU have ‘PARENT with purpose’ as your first and most important ‘job.’”
