CV NEWS FEED // The California-based Napa Institute recently announced that it has appointed a new chair of its Speakers Committee, and is now operating with a second office located in Washington, D.C.
Mitch Boersma has been appointed as the new chair for the Speakers Committee, the Catholic non-profit organization announced on March 11.
“We are truly excited to open our DC office and immediately create a key strategic partnership with our good friend Mitch Boersma,” Napa Institute Executive Director Mark Rohlena stated in a press release.
The Napa Institute brings Catholic leaders together for conferences, including cardinals, bishops, lay apostolates, and religious men and women, with a special focus on “[renewing’] the Church and [transforming] the culture, guided by the pillars of formation, community, and liturgy.”
The Napa Institute is also sponsoring an upcoming Eucharistic Procession in New York City, and is promoting the National Eucharistic Congress, which will take place in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Boersma expressed his enthusiasm for joining, stating: “I have been blessed to experience first-hand the incredible quality of the Napa Institute conferences since its founding, especially so over the last few years under the Speakers Committee leadership of Fran Maier and former Executive Director John Meyer.”
Boersma is located in Washington, D.C. currently serving as Executive Director of the Catholic professionals-focused Leonine Forum, and Chief Operating Officer of the D.C. location of the Catholic Information Center.
“Tim Busch (Board Chairman and co-founder of Napa) and Mark Rohlena are both good friends, and I look forward to working with them to shape the vision of the upcoming conferences and amplify the voices of emerging leaders around the country,” Boersma continued. “The Napa Institute plays a unique role in the Church and society, and we are all stronger working together.”

In his role as chair of the Speakers Committee, Boersma will direct the oversight of “theme and content planning for Napa Institute conferences… In addition, Mitch will assist Rohlena and the Napa Institute in deepening its outreach to emerging Catholic leaders in Washington, DC and around the country,” according to a press release.
The Napa Institute also opened a D.C. office in January, to “facilitate ongoing interaction with senior leaders in the Church in our nation’s capital,” the press release noted.
“The Napa Institute has the wind in its sails, charting an exciting course for the future,” Tim Busch stated, praising Boersma as “a proven leader in the Catholic world uniting other rising Catholic leaders around the country in every professional sector.”
“With his help, we’ll build the bench and ensure that these future leaders get the support they need to make the impact God intends from them. What’s more, Mitch will help our team showcase the most vibrant new voices at our conferences and events,” Busch added.
As CatholicVote previously reported, Busch wrote an op-ed for The Wall Street Journal in January that praised former President Donald Trump for having a “winning message on abortion” that “offers the pro-life movement the best chance at saving the unborn.”
