CV NEWS FEED // Following the resounding success of Jesus Thirsts: The Miracle of the Eucharist at the box office last week, Fathom Events has announced the popular documentary will return to theaters again on June 18 and 19.
According to a June 7 news release, the documentary film, Jesus Thirsts, grossed $2,141,273 at the box office, “landing at #1 in per screen average for all three days” that the movie was in theaters.
Fathom Events CEO Ray Nutt stated in the release that he was “not surprised” by the film’s success.
“We’re excited to be adding more dates to this run so that more people can experience the miracle of the Eucharist,” he said.
Co-sponsored by the Catholic Diocese of Orange, the film is now Fathom’s highest-grossing documentary of 2024 and the second-highest-grossing among documentaries released this year nationwide.
Executive Producer Deacon Steve Greco expressed that his “greatest hope” for the film is that it will draw people closer to Christ.
“I’m incredibly grateful to the movie-goers for showing up!” he said, adding: “Now we need to show up again with others.”
As CatholicVote previously reported, the documentary features a wide range of authoritative voices in the Catholic Church, including Dr. Scott Hahn, the founder and president of the St. Paul Center for Biblical Theology, and Bishop Andrew Cozzens, who’s the chairman of the National Eucharistic Revival.
Filmed in the US, Poland, Italy, Bosnia, Herzegovina, Uganda, Canada, and Slovenia, the documentary also includes a bonus feature, Our Lady of Guadalupe: Woman of the Eucharist, which the Knights of Columbus produced.
