CV NEWS FEED // All parishes in the Archdiocese of New York, and in the Dioceses of Brooklyn and Rockville Centre, will simultaneously be offering the sacrament of Confession on March 25 for several hours to help Catholics prepare for Easter.
Calling the day “Reconciliation Monday,” the Archdiocese of New York announced that all of its parishes will have Confessions available from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., and then from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on March 25.
“Lent is a great time to engage with the Sacrament of Confession,” the Archdiocese announcement reads. “If it has been a while since your last confession, remember, you are not alone. The priest will help guide you. Click here for more information about Lent, Confession, and guides to examining your conscience.”
Other dioceses and archdioceses across the United States have also been making the sacrament of Confession widely available for long hours ahead of Easter.
The Diocese of Cleveland, Ohio offered its annual “Evening of Confession” on February 28 where the majority of its parishes offered the sacrament for three straight hours, as well as Eucharistic adoration.
Many parishes in the Archdiocese of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, will be offering to hear confessions for 12 straight hours on Wednesday, March 20, encouraging Catholics to “pray, reconcile, and rejoice.”
Similarly, the National Shrine of Saint Rita of Cascia in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania is set to have Confession available for 12 hours on March 16.
