Devarjaye “DJ” Daniel — the Houston teen battling brain cancer who was recently named an honorary member of the United States Secret Service by President Donald Trump — is now in critical condition following brain surgery. His family is asking for prayers as he remains in the intensive care unit (ICU).
DJ’s health took a difficult turn after he underwent brain surgery June 8, the Houston Chronicle reported. Harris County Constable Precinct 4 Mark Herman posted an update on X late Monday, saying the 13-year-old is in serious condition.
The White House had also asked in a May 30 post that people pray for him ahead of his most recent surgery.
“We’re lifting up Agent DJ Daniel in prayer after his dad, Theodis, shared that DJ is now facing three new tumors,” the post read.
CatholicVote previously reported that during his March 4 address to Congress, President Donald Trump honored DJ’s lifelong wish to serve in law enforcement by appointing him an honorary Secret Service agent.
Since his cancer diagnosis in 2018, DJ has been ceremonially sworn into 1,351 law enforcement agencies nationwide, including as an Honorary Harris County Precinct 4 Constable Deputy.
The White House post added, “Agent Daniel, you’re a true legend.”
