Habemus Papam! White smoke billows from Sistine Chapel chimney

CV NEWS FEED // The chimney on top of the Sistine Chapel at the Vatican has emitted white smoke, announcing to the world that the cardinals have elected a new pope, multiple news media have reported.

Two-thirds of the electors needed to agree on a candidate for him to become the 267th pope, as CatholicVote previously reported.

Pope Francis died on April 21, Easter Monday.
