CV NEWS FEED // The walls surrounding a Catholic convent in France were spray-painted with pro-abortion messages Jan. 20 after a pro-life organization’s bioethics conference, according to a news report.
The Observatory on Intolerance and Discrimination against Christians in Europe reported that The Dominican Sisters of the Presentation, who live in the vandalized Grande Bretèche convent in Tours, hosted Alliance VITA’s University of Life conference in 2024 and 2025. After each conference, vandals painted pro-abortion messages in opposition to the event. This year, pro-abortion slogans included “mon corps mon choix” (my body my choice) and “Alliance Vita: Fachos” (Alliance Vita: Fascists).
Alliance VITA is a French association that promotes the protection of life and respect for human dignity among policymakers and the public. According to its website, Alliance VITA also provides resources and help for pregnant women, those facing end-of-life issues, caregivers, and individuals facing ethical dilemmas.
Chapters of the University of Life conference have occurred annually across the world since 2015, providing attendees with information and training regarding major bioethical issues.
The Observatory reported that in the future the security of the Sisters and conference participants “will be guaranteed by the police, so that the ‘University of Life’ can take place without disturbance.”
