CV NEWS FEED // The first-ever International Day of St Thérèse will be celebrated next month, at the International Eucharistic and Marian Shrine of Knock in Ireland.
The July 14 event honoring the patroness of missionaries and priests will be open to the public, according to a June 18 Catholic News report. The event includes a two-day pilgrimage, according to a Facebook announcement.
Event organizers Róisín and Sheila O Toole told Catholic News that the purpose of the celebration is to revive devotion to the French saint’s famous “Little Way of Love.”
“We believe Saint Thérèse’s simple doctrine and her ‘Little way of Love’ is the guide and hope that every heart in the world needs right now,” the women stated.
“We look forward to the celebration of the first Saint Thérèse International Day at Knock Shrine on Sunday 14 July 2024,” rector of the Shrine and parish priest of Knock Fr. Richard Gibbons told Catholic News, adding:
This new pilgrimage day celebrates the Little Flower, Saint Thérèse of Lisieux, whose simple spirituality is called the ‘Little Way’.
It is fitting that this new International Day for Saint Thérèse should take place here at Ireland’s International Eucharistic and Marian Shrine, as ‘Tranquilla’ Carmelite Monastery is located adjacent to the Shrine and it is blessing to have such a wonderful connection with Saint Thérèse’s spirituality.
“We hope that all pilgrims attending this day will find it to be spiritually uplifting,” the priest concluded.
