Brett Kavanaugh offered a fierce defense of himself at the Senate Judiciary Committee hearing:
“I swear today under oath before the Senate and the nation, before my family and God, I am innocent of this charge,” said Kavanaugh. “The Constitution gives the Senate an important role in the confirmation process. But you have replaced advise and consent with search and destroy.”
David French noted:
“”There was a deep emotional response to Brett Kavanaugh’s stand. He fought with passion, evidence, and compassion. If the GOP abandons him, it will do more than betray its base, it will reward a broken, grotesque process.”
