The total number of people collecting jobless benefits fell to the lowest level in more than 28 years. This is great news for working America!
The total number of people collecting jobless benefits fell to the lowest level in 28½ years, a further sign of labor-market strength, government data showed.
Initial claims slipped 2,000 to a seasonally adjusted 236,000 for the week ended May 6, the Labor Department said on Thursday.
Claims have now been below 300,000, a threshold associated with a healthy labor market, for 114 straight weeks.
