Bishop Thomas Paprocki issued a decree stating that people in same-sex marriages were ineligible for Catholic funerals. His ruling is well within established Catholic teaching, but it earned the bishop considerable bad press from so-called mainstream media outlets.
But some people were more personal with their displeasure over the rule.
“Gay activists have harassed my staff and me with obscene telephone calls, e-mail messages and letters using foul language and profanity, supposedly in the name of love and tolerance. I am sorry that people around me have been subjected to such hateful and malicious language,” said Bishop Paprocki.
