CV NEWS FEED // The National Eucharistic Revival has announced the Year of Mission, the newest and final stage of the Revival, which started in 2022 and is set to conclude in 2025.
The National Eucharistic Revival explained in a July 31 email that the National Eucharistic Congress in Indianapolis, Indiana, “kicked off a new phase of the National Eucharistic Revival movement: the Year of Mission. It’s time for this movement to spread outward, going from initiatives in the pews to on-fire Catholics setting their communities ablaze with Eucharistic love!”
The email offered three ways that Catholics can participate in the Year of Mission: embracing the movement called “Walk with One;” using the “Year of Mission Playbook;” and becoming a Eucharistic Missionary.
The “Walk with One” movement encourages Catholics to accompany a loved one “whom Jesus longs to call closer to his Eucharistic heart.” It involves four steps: identifying the person through prayer and discernment, interceding for that person, connecting with them on their journey, and, finally, inviting them to encounter Jesus, in Mass, Adoration, or prayer.
The Year of Mission Playbook is a guidebook for Catholics to discern how Christ is calling them to share His Eucharistic Presence with others, through the “calling will be unique to the gifts and strengths God has given you.” It includes four pillars: Eucharistic Encounter, Eucharistic Identity, Eucharistic Life, and Eucharistic Mission.
Finally, a Eucharistic Missionary is “any Catholic who—inspired by an encounter with Christ in the Eucharist and fueled by the Bread of Life—allows God to use them as an instrument of his grace.” The Revival’s email includes a resource on discerning this calling.
