CV NEWS FEED // The Empire State Building in New York honored Pope Francis April 21 by shining its tower lights in the papal colors of white and gold in memory of his life and legacy. As CatholicVote previously reported, the Holy Father passed away April 21 on Easter Monday, at the age of 88, after experiencing a stroke, followed by a coma and irreversible cardiocirculatory collapse.
According to an April 22 article from Fox News, the Empire State Building shined its memorial lights from 10 p.m. April 21 until 2 a.m. April 22.
The Empire State Building’s website stated the building has a long-standing tradition of honoring historic moments. For example, according to The New York Times, the Empire State Building’s tower lights shone white and gold in 1979 to honor Pope John Paul II’s visit to America and in 2005 after his death.
