CV NEWS FEED // In preparation for Holy Week, young Catholics took part April 12 in the Diocese of Wilmington’s annual three-mile youth pilgrimage, carrying a 10-foot cross through the streets of Wilmington, according to the Delaware News Journal.
The pilgrims walked from parish to parish, participating in prayer, music, the Sacrament of Reconciliation, Stations of the Cross, Eucharistic Adoration, and Mass.
According to The Dialog, the diocese’s news outlet, the theme of the 14th annual Youth Pilgrimage follows the Jubilee Year 2025’s theme, “Pilgrims of Hope.”
The diocese’s Bishop William Koenig was set to lead the pilgrimage, which would begin at 9:30 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Church and make several prayerful stops before returning in the evening for a celebration of the Mass. The Scally Brothers, a Christian musical duo, was also set to lead worship songs throughout the pilgrimage.
The first stop of the pilgrimage was set to be Saint Francis Hospital, where Bishop Koenig would offer a blessing for the sick and those who care for them, according to The Dialog. The pilgrims would also have the opportunity to receive the sacrament of Reconciliation at St. Anthony of Padua Church before participating in the Stations of the Cross at Padua Academy, an all-girls Catholic school.
According to The Dialog, the pilgrims would conclude by carrying the cross to St. Paul’s Catholic Church for Eucharistic Adoration before the blessing of the palms and Mass at St. Elizabeth.
