CV NEWS FEED // The Diocese of Cleveland, Ohio, commissioned many of their members who had attended the National Eucharistic Congress as “Eucharistic missionaries” during a vigil Mass at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist.
According to a report from the Diocese, Bishop Edward Malesic led the August 24 ceremony, together with Auxiliary Bishop Michael Woost and several other priests and deacons.
Bishop Malesic offered a special blessing to the delegates, many of whom had recently attended the National Eucharistic Congress, which took place in Indianapolis. With 250 participants, he noted that the Cleveland Diocese had one of the strongest showings among dioceses nationwide.
The missionaries were charged with the mission of bringing their renewed faith and fervor for the Eucharist back to their communities.
“Now that we have begun the mission phase of the National Eucharistic Revival,” he told the delegates, “I am counting on you who have been formed by the Congress to be sent out to share what you have received.”
Bishop Malesic emphasized the importance of this role and shared that while he and his fellow priests must consecrate the bread into the Body of Christ, the Eucharistic missionaries must consecrate the world.
“May you do it and do it well,” he stated.
