CV NEWS FEED // A 73-year-old Jesuit priest in Chicago was non-fatally shot by two men on June 3 after he caught them in the act of stealing a catalytic converter from a car.
The Chicago Sun-Times reported that Fr. Jeremiah Lynch, a priest at the Cook County Jail, discovered the two men stealing the catalytic converter outside his home at around 6 a.m. Monday morning.
He confronted the men and one shot at him three times, resulting in a graze wound to the forehead before the would-be thieves both ran away.
Two of the shots struck Fr. Lynch’s residence, which is owned by St. Ignatius College Prep. Fourteen other priests also live there.
Fr. Lynch told the Chicago Sun-Times that aside from the graze wound, he’s fine.
“I’m praying for the person who shot at me,” Lynch added.
According to the Chicago Sun-Times, no arrests have been made.
