CatholicVote has introduced a new weekly program aimed at deeper conversations on faith and culture. The Deep with Erika Ahern airs Thursdays at 4 p.m. ET on the LOOPcast YouTube channel, offering extended commentary on current events through a faith-informed lens.
The show builds on Ahern’s role as cohost of CatholicVote’s LOOPcast, offering a dedicated space for more focused and thoughtful discussions on religion, culture, and public life.
“I’m excited for this opportunity to take what makes the LOOPcast unique to the next level,” Ahern said. “We always run out of time on the live shows, and The Deep is the perfect way to really dig into religion, politics, and culture.”
In the premiere episode, Ahern dives into the surprising trend of young people turning — or returning — to the Catholic faith after years of religious indifference. Backed by data, compelling context, and real-life stories of conversion, the episode explores what’s behind the renewed momentum in Church life today.
The second episode, airing today, features a conversation between Ahern and Cade Bradley, a podcaster and gay former Catholic who was one of the atheists featured in the documentary Surrounded, where he debated Jordan Peterson on faith and morality.
“This conversation with Cade meant a lot to me personally, especially since he reached out to us after seeing one of our videos,” Ahern said.
She noted that the team put considerable thought into identifying shared ground between her and Bradley, something she said is clearly reflected in the final video.
“So many Catholics today find themselves in conversations with family members or friends who have followed the path Cade is on right now — and it’s our responsibility as Catholics to prepare to speak the truth to them in love,” Ahern said. “That’s what I tried to do here, and I learned a lot in the process.”
Marking the debut of the new episode, Ahern credited the project’s success to the dedication of the team.
She said, “We have an incredible team working on this — from marketing to production to scripting — and we’re so excited to share this new project with the world!”
