On June 27, Catholics around the world will take part in the Annual Global Rosary Relay for the sanctification of priests, an international prayer event held on the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
Organized by the Worldpriest Global Apostolate, the event involves a continuous relay of Rosary prayers spanning 24 hours, beginning in Magadan, Russia, and ending at Thomas Aquinas College campuses in Massachusetts and California, according to a recent press release from Worldpriest.
This year’s relay includes a specific intention for Pope Leo XIV, scheduled for 12 p.m. ET. According to the organization, participants are invited to pray the Sorrowful Mysteries for the Holy Father from their homes, churches, schools, hospitals, or any other location at that time.
“Regardless of your faith, age or local culture, please join this truly inspiring event,” the press release stated. “Pray the Rosary, unite with your country and truly encircle the world in prayer.”
Now in its 16th year, the relay began as a modest initiative inspired by the idea of “Twenty countries and twenty mysteries.” It has since expanded to include participation from every continent, according to Worldpriest.
The list of 2025 participants includes prayer groups from Mexico, Pakistan, Botswana, France, the US, and Liberia, among others. Several locations, such as St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Spokane Valley, Washington, and the Cenacolo Community in Liberia, will join for the first time.
Notable events during the day include public participation in Paris, where a group will pray the Luminous Mysteries outside the historic Notre-Dame Cathedral at 8:30 p.m. local time. The Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes will also contribute by hosting four prayer sessions in four different languages.
