CV NEWS FEED // Catholic singer-songwriter Marie Miller has released a new bluegrass-tinged album inspired by St. Therese of Lisieux.
Recently the subject of a June 10 OSV News feature, “The Way of Love,” which was released on May 31 across streaming platforms, is Miller’s first foray into “overtly Catholic” songwriting.
According to OSV, the title track of the mandolin-forward album is derived from a quotation attributed to Lisieux: “How sweet is the way of Love! One can fall, I know; there may be infidelities, yet Love knows how to turn all things to profit, quickly consuming everything which might displease Jesus.”
Prior to her most recent music release, Miller told OSV that the subjects of her music have had a more “general appeal,” dealing with themes such as heartbreak, and longing for love.
“This album I didn’t have to depend on myself and my life,” she stated. “It’s me bringing out the church’s beautiful words, maybe in a new, fresh way that people haven’t heard before and hoping that it would draw them closer to the Lord.”
The five songs featured on the album touch on various themes, such as the experience of Eucharistic Adoration and the relationship Christ had with women in the Bible, such as Mary Magdalene and the woman at the well.
“The faith is the greatest gift I can give to anyone, and so why not focus on that?” Miller stated in the article.
