CV NEWS FEED // Cardinal Timothy Dolan spent two days in a small town in Newfoundland, Canada, when his flight to Dublin, Ireland was diverted due to a passenger’s medical emergency.
Cardinal Dolan wrote on his X account, “Thank you to the gracious people of St. John the Baptist in St. John’s, Newfoundland, who took me in after my flight to Ireland was grounded. It was my joy to offer Mass in the cathedral that it’s said inspired Archbishop John Joseph Hughes to build @StPatsNYC!”
Cardinal Dolan offered the Vigil Mass at the cathedral on Feb. 15.
CBS News reported that United Flight 23 departed Newark Liberty Airport on Feb. 13 and was diverted to St. John’s, Newfoundland, at 2:30 a.m. Feb. 15. The sick passenger was taken to a local hospital. The flight included 259 passengers and 12 crew members. The plane was stranded in Newfoundland until Sunday, Feb. 16 due to high winds in the area.
Passengers were unable to access their luggage, which was stuck on the plane; however, United Airlines provided meal vouchers and hotel accommodations, CBS News reported.
