CV NEWS FEED // The acclaimed documentary “Jesus Thirsts: The Miracle of the Eucharist,” which broke box office earlier this year, is now available for screenings at parishes, schools, and universities.
An Aug. 8 press release shared that the initiative was made possible through a partnership between Spirit Filled Hearts diocesan Ministry and Faith Content Network, which allowed the film to be shown in local ministry settings.
The film, initially released in theaters nationwide in early June, enjoyed an extended run due to overwhelming demand, CatholicVote reported. It grossed $2.9 million, ranking as the top-performing documentary of 2024.
Deacon Steve Greco, the film’s executive producer, expressed his enthusiasm for this next phase. “No one wanted to see our movie leave the theaters, especially me!” he said.
The deacon emphasized the power the film has to “gather communities together in a new way around the Eucharist in a presentation that is beautiful and inspiring.”
“This is something every parish, school, and ministry should do!” Greco stated.
“Jesus Thirsts” features scenes filmed in the U.S. and many European countries, and insights from prominent Catholic leaders and thinkers including Scott Hahn, Bishop Andrew Cozzens, Fr. Donald Calloway, Chris Stefanik, the Sisters of Life, and many more. The film explores the profound significance of the Eucharist as the “source and summit” of the Christian life.
Deacon Greco shared his vision for the future of the film, stating, “My greatest hope for this film has been and continues to be winning souls for Jesus Christ. Let’s not lose the momentum of what has begun in our country – Eucharistic revival in every diocese, parish and human heart!”
The public exhibition phase for hosting a screening runs through Oct. 31. Interested groups are encouraged to arrange events, which they can do via JesusThirstsFilm.com.
