CV NEWS FEED // In a heartwarming initiative, Apl.de.Ap — the Filipino-American member of the multi-Grammy award winning band Black Eyed Peas — is collaborating with the Sisters of Mary Schools in the Philippines on a special Christmas song titled “It’s That Time Of Year.”
The song aims to raise funds to support the work of these Catholic schools, which provide food, shelter, and education to children from the poorest communities, according to a press release from Apl.de.Ap’s representation.
During a recent visit to the Sisters of Mary Schools with his charitable foundation, Apl.de.Ap Foundation International (APLFI), Apl.de.Ap — born Allan Pineda Lindo — was deeply moved by the dedication of the Sisters and the positive impact they have on the lives of their students.
“I’m really thrilled to collaborate with the Sisters of Mary on this track,” Apl.de.Ap said. “I got to spend time with those kids earlier this year and left inspired by them. To be able to collaborate on a project and give the school something back means the world to me.”
The Sisters of Mary Schools operate a collection of Catholic schools that serve children in need for 10 months each year. These institutions not only provide education but also vital resources such as meals and housing for underprivileged children in seven countries.
According to the Sisters of Mary Schools’ website, the institution educates students with the goal that graduates, “in their everyday life and in pursuit of their calling, will become the new disciples in spreading the work of redemption, and at the same time teach and lead by example the Marian virtues of simplicity, charity, gratitude, and joy.”
Funds raised through Apl.de.Ap’s collaboration with the students will go to the Sisters of Mary Schools-Philippines and to the singer’s foundation, APLFI, which has supported the education of underprivileged Filipino youth in the past and other causes that promote the well-being of children.
Because “It’s That Time Of Year” is a Christmas song, royalties from the track will continue to be generated each holiday season, the press release stated, continuously raising money for the the students at Sisters of Mary Schools.
