CV NEWS FEED // Bishop Robert Barron of Winona-Rochester, Minnesota, is promoting the 2025 National Marriage Week as an opportunity to celebrate the vocation to matrimony and family life.
The theme of the 2025 National Marriage Week, “Source of Hope, Spring of Renewal, Pursue a Lasting Love,” highlights the the Jubilee Year 2025’s emphasis on the virtue of hope, according to a Feb. 6 news release from the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB). Bishop Barron is the chairman of the USCCB Committee on Laity, Marriage, Family Life, and Youth.
The Bishop emphasized the important role the covenant of marriage plays in a society where commitment is often disparaged.
“In today’s world, relationships are often viewed as disposable,” Bishop Barron said in the release. “The commitment to fidelity and love that marriage entails is a source of hope for all generations.”
National Marriage Week, which takes place from Feb. 7 through Feb. 14, is an annual effort to promote healthy marriages, according to the National Marriage Week website.
The marital bond “is an antidote to the loneliness and discouragement of many young people today and deserves our prioritization as a Church and society,” Bishop Barron said.
During National Marriage Week, the USCCB will produce daily digital content for married couples that will be available on the Conference’s social media pages. The USCCB is also offering resources, including an at-home marriage retreat, a preaching resource, and lectio divina meditative prayers for spouses.
