CV NEWS FEED // Ave Maria Radio has announced that Dr. Marcus Peter will succeed the late Al Kresta as the new host of its afternoon program.
Al Kresta, the beloved founder and president of Ave Maria Radio, passed away in June after a battle with cancer, as reported by CatholicVote.
A former Evangelical Protestant, Kresta was a prominent Christian radio host before converting to Catholicism in 1992, and co-founding Ave Maria Radio in 1997.
Kresta earned the title “Godfather of Catholic Radio” as the host of Ave Maria’s flagship program, Kresta in the Afternoon.
According to Kresta in the Afternoon, starting Monday, July 15, “Ave Maria in the Afternoon” will be with Dr. Marcus Peter, airing weekdays from 4-6 PM Eastern Time.
The show will explore the Church, current events, and how to navigate the culture, all through a faith-based perspective.
Dr. Marcus Peter joined Ave Maria Radio in 2022 as a radio host and became its marketing director in 2023. He was once a staunch atheist, but he experienced a transformative conversion experience. Following two years with the international Pentecostal denomination Assemblies of God, he returned to the Catholic Church in 2010 through extensive study of Scripture, theology, and the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Since then, Dr. Peter has delivered tens of thousands of talks on the Faith worldwide.
Dr. Peter has an undergraduate degree in communications with minors in marketing and management. He studied philosophy and Alphonsian Spirituality in seminary and received a master’s degree in systematic theology from Ave Maria University in 2018. He also holds a doctorate in biblical studies from Pontifex University.
