CV NEWS FEED // The latest podcast by Ascension Press — “The Rosary in a Year” — has made an impressive debut, securing the No. 1 spot on Apple Podcasts across all categories, surpassing popular shows such as “The Joe Rogan Experience” and “Dateline.”
The podcast provides a structured program for listeners to engage with the Rosary over the course of a year. It includes daily listen-alongs that cover the prayers, insights on Scripture passages and sacred art related to each mystery, reflections from saints, and other aids to deepening the meditation.
According to a news release from Ascension Press, this marks their third podcast to achieve the top position on Apple since 2021, following the success of “The Bible in a Year” and “The Catechism in a Year” podcasts.
The podcast’s host, Fr. Mark-Mary Ames, CFR, expressed in the release Ascension’s goal to meet the spiritual desires of listeners, drawing inspiration from a historical moment in 1979 when Pope John Paul II, during his return to Poland, was met with the crowd’s resounding call: “We want God!”
“I can’t help but see this cry being echoed by the millions of people who have participated in Bible in a Year, Catechism in a Year, and now Rosary in a Year,” Fr. Mark-Mary said.
The podcast, which has quickly gained traction, was initially highlighted by the Associated Press Nov. 5 as the No. 6 Top New Show on Apple Podcasts.
As of Dec. 30, 2024, it has maintained its position as the leading podcast in the Religion & Spirituality category and accumulated hundreds of thousands of downloads, according to the release.
Ascension President and CEO Jonathan Strate noted in the release, “The success of our podcasts reflects a growing desire in our culture to seek spiritual connection and purpose.”
