CV NEWS FEED // The Archdiocese of New York recently celebrated a local pregnancy center’s launch of a state-of-the-art mobile ultrasound van that will serve women across four local counties.
According to the Good News Room, the van, purchased by Gianna’s House, was driven to St. Patrick’s Cathedral Jan. 26 after the church’s annual pro-life Mass so it could be blessed by Cardinal Timothy Dolan.
“Make this van a place of blessing, a center of love and care and tenderness, where physicians practice healing wisely, nurses and aides and counselors serve pregnant women and the sick, with love and care, where the faithful see Christ in the person of their brothers and sisters,” Cardinal Dolan said as he blessed the van, according to the Good News Room.
Raising money to acquire the van was a collective effort. Gianna’s House, the parishes of St. Lawrence O’Toole and Sacred Heart, the family of Siobhan Fitzpatrick, and Save the Storks raised more than $280,000 in 2024 for the van’s construction and application.
Save the Storks is a Colorado-based ministry that constructs and provides mobile ultrasound vans to areas in need. Because of Save the Stork’s financial assistance and guidance, Gianna’s House will be able to use the van to provide ultrasounds and testing for women living in the counties of Dutchess, Putnam, and Westchester, and the Bronx, helping them choose life.
Named after the patron saint of mothers and unborn children, St. Gianna Beretta Molla, Gianna’s House helps mothers and their unborn children, offering free pregnancy tests, counseling, and baby supplies, supporting expectant mothers with life-affirming resources and assisting them through their early stages of motherhood.
