CV NEWS FEED // The Archdiocese of New York is wrapping up its annual “Love & Responsibility” summer series where young adults explored topics such as dating, relationships, chastity, and marriage, according to a recent report from The Good Newsroom.
The weekly talks, rooted in Pope St. John Paul II’s Theology of the Body, aimed to equip young adults with practical guidance and a deeper grasp of the Church’s teachings on love and relationships, according to The Good Newsroom. The events featured prominent speakers including Fr. Agustino Torres, CFR, and Catholic author Gene Zannetti, and live music from local musicians.
The Good Newsroom reports that this year’s series, which the Office of Young Adult Outreach of the Archdiocese of New York hosted, took place over several summer evenings at the Basilica of St. Patrick’s Old Cathedral in Lower Manhattan.
The events also offered confession, Adoration, wine and snacks, according to a Facebook post about the series.
Kaitlyn Colgan, assistant director of Young Adult Outreach, noted that attendance for these gatherings can reach up to 150 people and attendees appreciate the opportunity for social gathering.
“It’s something that people look forward to every summer; we’ve heard that from a lot of people,” she told The Good Newsroom on Aug. 14.
The Good Newsroom reports that Christy Vaissade, head of the theology department at Immaculata High School in Somerville, New Jersey, and a former assistant director of Young Adult Outreach, will lead the final discussion of the summer series on Aug. 20. The series will officially wrap up with a Talent Showcase on Aug. 27.
