CV NEWS FEED // The Archdiocese of Los Angeles welcomed a record number of catechumens and the second-largest ever number of candidates into the Church this Easter.
Angelus News reported that 2,075 catechumens entered the Church throughout the Archdiocese, besting the old record of 1,508, which was set in 2016. The Archdiocese also welcomed 1,521 candidates, which marked a 20% increase since 2016 and a 67% increase in total since 2019. The year 2016 holds the record for the most candidates: 1,719. Candidates are those who were already baptized but came into full communion with the Church through confirmation and reception of the Eucharist.
“The trend tracks with several other dioceses nationwide, which have reached or in many cases exceeded pre-pandemic levels,” Angelus News reported.
CatholicVote posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, that the Diocese of Lansing in Michigan experienced a 30% increase in the number of converts entering the Church.
